Frequently Asked Questions

Are there tryouts?

No, there are no tryouts.  Everyone makes the team and everyone plays every game.

What division do we play?

In AYF Norcal, there are no divisions.  There are 21 Associations within our League and we may play any 8 of them during a season.  Divisions are not chosen unless a team makes it to Nationals.

Who makes the schedule?

Norcal President, Mark Tyrell makes our schedule.  We complete a survey every year telling him when we can't use our field, what times we want games to be at home games, up to 3 teams we want to play, and up to 3 teams we do not want to play.  That is all the input we have.

Why won't the online registration system let me pick which level my son/daughter plays?

The system will automatically put your child in the division by age.  We will go in later and put them in the correct teams based on age and weight.

Where will practices and home games be?

We will have all practices at Ann Soldo Elementary School.  All home games at St. Francis Catholic High School in Watsonville. As we move forward with our planning, we may have to alternate practice sites as necessary.  We reserve the right to make those changes to meet our needs.

When do you start?

Conditioning starts on July 24, 2017.

What days will you be practicing?

We will be 5 days a week through August from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm.  Starting in September we will go to 3 days per week (days to be determined) from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm.

How do I register my child?

There are two ways to register your child.  The register link at the top of our webpage will take you to the online registration.  You can come to one of our recruitment days and register there.

Is there fundraising to help pay for fees?

Yes, we are offering fundraising to pay for fees.  Our fundraising coordinator has done a great job making sure that there are many different fundraisers happening before the beginning of the season to pay your fees.  The earlier you start, the more time you have.

Do you pay your coaches?

We do not pay our coaches.  All positions within the Tri-County organization are strictly volunteer.  It is against our charter and membership with American Youth Football & Cheer to pay coaches.
